DN — WARDROBE — Collection 01
About the work
She is not performing. She is simply present.
Nocturne is the most intimate work in DN — WARDROBE a three-quarter silhouette in which the garment and the figure have reached a complete understanding. An oversized coat of extraordinary sculptural volume falls from shoulders that have been architecturally resolved structured, precise, deliberate into a body of fluid lines that dissolve toward the ground with the unhurried gravity of fabric that has been cut by someone who understood weight as a design material. The head inclines. The gaze is cast downward. The hands, barely visible at the hem, are the only detail that reminds you this figure is not a sculpture.
A garment is not a statement but a shelter, where dressing is not performance but withdrawal into a more considered version of the self. Nocturne does not ask to be looked at. It is simply, completely, itself.
The name carries its meaning precisely. A nocturne is a musical composition written for the night intimate, unperformed, existing for its own internal logic rather than for an audience. Chopin understood that some of the most fully realised work happens in the hours when no one is watching. So does this silhouette.
In DN — WARDROBE, Nocturne is the third female look — and the one that defines the collection's emotional register. Ivory established the architecture. Nocturne establishes the soul.
