In Static, Di Nicolantonio abandons the controlled precision of the earlier Augmented works and unleashes the drawing as an act of controlled violence. Dense, slashing hatch marks consume the entire composition hair, skin, space, air leaving only one zone of geometric clarity: the eye, ringed by concentric technological arcs, locked in perfect resolution at the centre of a storm that threatens to erase everything around it.

This is what cognitive overload looks like. Not the clean interface of science fiction, not the seamless integration promised by technology roadmaps but the lived reality of a nervous system processing more than it was designed to hold. The augmentation is running. The human behind it is holding on.

The irony is precise: the machine eye sees with absolute clarity. It is the biological mind surrounding it that is fragmenting overwhelmed by the volume, the velocity, the unrelenting density of a connected existence. Di Nicolantonio draws this not as dystopia but as diagnosis. This is not a warning about the future. It is a portrait of right now.

Static and Signal are the two faces of the same condition one asks what invisible augmentation feels like when it works. This one asks what happens when it doesn't.
