    About the work

The claws came later. They were not part of the original design.

KyumiX-2 marks a decisive evolution in the Futuropia Robots universe a figure that has moved beyond the calibrated elegance of its predecessors into something rawer, more alien, more unsettling. The body retains the fluid android architecture of the Kyumi lineage: the characteristic lateral antenna, the circular sensor eye, the articulated torso. But the left arm terminates not in a hand but in a array of blade-like digits precision instruments that could as easily dissect as construct, repair as destroy.

The posture is predatory. The head is inclined, the shoulder rolled forward, the weight shifted onto the front foot in the universal language of something about to move. Di Nicolantonio draws this figure with the loose, urgent line of a designer thinking faster than he can draw the sketch quality is not incompletion, it is velocity.

KyumiX-2 raises the question the series has been building toward: at what point does a robot optimised for capability become something we are no longer comfortable calling a tool?

The Kyumi lineage is evolving. The direction is not entirely reassuring.
