Arborea
About the work
The tree did not inspire the building. The tree is the building.
In Arborea, Di Nicolantonio dissolves the last remaining boundary between structure and organism. A vast branching trunk erupts from the earth, its limbs splaying outward to cradle a constellation of disc-like volumes hovering, weightless, held by forces that feel more gravitational than architectural. Below, low-slung pavilions settle into the landscape like roots finding water.
There is no façade here, no entrance sequence, no urban grammar to decode. Only the ancient logic of growth upward, outward, toward light. This is not a city built for the future. It is a city that has been growing since before we arrived.
