Vesper
DN — WARDROBE — Collection 02
About the work
The last light before dark. The first figure of a new season.
Vesper opens DN — WARDROBE Collection 02 with the precision of a reset a silhouette stripped of the organic turbulence of Collection 01 and returned to something cleaner, harder, more immediately inhabitable. A three-quarter profile in a body suit of architectural economy: semi-opaque visor, structured black high collar, a ribbed corset of vertical striations that reads simultaneously as fashion detail and technical specification, as couture boning and carbon fibre reinforcement. The arms are clean. The stance is composed. The figure knows exactly where she is going.
Di Nicolantonio draws here in felt-tip black the most direct, most irreversible mark in his arsenal and the line shows it. Every stroke is a decision. The hatching on the collar and corset is dense and directional, building form through accumulation rather than outline. This is not a sketch. It is a construction document.
Vesper is named for the evening star Venus at the horizon in the minutes after sunset, visible only in the threshold between day and night, between one state of the sky and another. The figure that carries this name exists in a similar threshold: between the biological and the engineered, between the intimate and the armoured, between the collection that ended with Chrysalis II and whatever this new season is about to propose.
