Seen from above, it looks like something about to take flight.

In Wingspan, Di Nicolantonio shifts perspective the viewpoint drops from street level to aerial, revealing an architectural form that only reveals its full logic from the sky. Two great triangular wings extend outward from a central spine, their surfaces open to the elements, their interiors dense with cultivated green terraced gardens, planted walkways, living corridors that turn the structure's skin into a productive landscape. At ground level, the familiar sphere of the Futuropia universe anchors the composition to the earth. Above it, everything lifts.

This is architecture designed for two audiences simultaneously: those who inhabit it from within, moving through its garden corridors and sheltered plazas, and those who observe it from without from the air, from the satellite image, from the window of an approach vector. Wingspan performs differently at every altitude. It was designed that way.

Di Nicolantonio draws here with the precision of an aerospace designer and the sensibility of a landscape architect the structural geometry is rigorous, the organic infill generous, the tension between the two resolved into something that feels, from this angle, less like a building and more like a proposal for how cities might be seen as well as lived in.

In the Futuropia universe, Wingspan is the first structure in Verdania visible from orbit.
